So I recently got a 6" jointer and went with the G0452 from Grizzly Industrial.
The specs of this were attractive for the price and I didn't need much more of a machine currently.
I mainly needed it for 6' plus length boards for my tables and various projects. I wasn't concerned with the limit of the 6" table width because I mainly use boards that are 12" wide or less and planned on jointing them using the technique I discovered in this article.
A simple way to face joint boards wider than your jointer
After receiving the jointer and testing it out I was having difficulty due to the mobile base. This was a feature that attracted me to this model; however when jointing the long heavy boards the jointer was literally moving from the pressure needed to run rough cut lumber through the table.
Here is what I did to enhance my jointer and alleviate the problems.
You can apply this idea to any jointer and I am sure you will enjoy the results.

See you for the next Wood Time...
